Addis airport

    APA-Addis Ababa
    (Ethiopia) An Emirates
    plane from Dubai, UAE
    crashed on Ethiopia’s
    recently purchased Boeing
    777-200 LR plane late on
    Tuesday while parking at
    the Addis Ababa Bole
    International Airport, APA
learnt here on Wednesday.

The Emirates plane crashed on the Ethiopian plane after it landed
from Dubai and it was preparing for another flight to an African
country.

The Ethiopian plane is reported to have a serious damage on its
fuselage (body), which is being maintained by the Ethiopian Airlines
technical teams.

Sources told APA that the Ethiopian airline has suspended its flight
of the day due to the crash, and there were no passengers on board.

Ethiopian airlines in November 2010 received two Boeing 777-200
LR, making it the first African airliner to possess and operate the
ultra-long-range aircraft.

“Experts are investigating how the crash occurred,” said sources.

Emirates, which is also one of the world class airlines, might cover
the cost of the damage on Ethiopian Airlines, which is not yet clear
due to the ongoing investigation of the incident.

However, the two airlines refused to give details on the crash.

The two Boeing 777-200 LR plane are part of Ethiopia’s five
orders to Boeing Company at the cost of US$1.3 billion.
