Selam!

As I said earlier, this is the most crucial subject, the proper
understanding of which makes it easy to grasp the almost similar and
interelated situation we have in the north.

Infact, it’s fair to say that those who follow what’s going on in the
Horn of Africa clearly
See the pattern of the consequential events that led the entire region
to the current predicament.

While thinking about how to contribute on this very important yet,
ignored subject, I wished I was a Doctor or Professor so that I
could explain things academically. I wished I was a Historian that I
Could write a book about the past and its relation to the current, I
wished I was a Poet that I could enlighten people telling them the
many aspect of this global phenomenon within time and space.

Yes, I wished I was many things so that I could tuckle many of the
issues that matter to my people. Then again, I asked myself; why I
wished to be all the above to tell what I witnessed and understood as
the story unfolds?

I sincerely believe that everyone is learning something new everyday
from the biggest of all universities called LIFE.

Perhaps, that’s why sometimes I come to conclude that it is when
we live a pre-programmed and remote-controlled life that we fail to
comprehend what’s going on right in our face waiting for someone
with authority or power to tell Us our own story. Today this is the
same short comings of our past that's still lingering around by
making us more vulnerable to the challenges facing Us today.”

By Dereje Hailu Kassa | 24, March 2009
" This writing is neither about the war in
Afghanistan, nor about the Canadian soldiers who
died there. It's rather about transparency and
accountability, above all a  respect for human being.
Why these things are eroded in my beloved country,
where an opponent's life is dispensable?....
