Ethiopians held peaceful protest in Ottawa, Canada
27 May, 2009 ( Ethio Quest News ) - In response to a call by the
Committee of Network of Worldwide Campaign against Injustice,
Ethiopians in Canada held a peaceful protest yesterday afternoon
outside Parliament Hill here in Ottawa, Canada.

The successful rally which was organized by Unity For Human
Rights & Democracy, (A Canadian Human Rights Advocacy
Organization) in collaboration with various support groups, saw
many participants traveling hundreds of miles as far as from
Toronto, including Obang Metho, Executive Director of Solidarity
Movement for New Ethiopia who flew from Saskatoon.
The demonstrators demanded the Harper government to stop
supporting repression in Ethiopia, and asked politicians to put
pressure on the regime for the release of all political prisoners and
respect of human rights to all citizens in their home land.
Some of the messages carried by the participants read: Free All
Political Prisoners, Stop the Killings in Ethiopia, Political view is not
a crime, We stand for Freedom and Human Rights in Ethiopia,
Canada: support Democracy in Ethiopia.
