Ethiopian sweep at Cooper River Bridge Run
    4 April 2009 (EQN) - A 20-
    year old Tilahun  Regassa of  
    Ethiopia finished first, as
    countrywoman Amana
    Gobena, 26, took the
    women's title at the 32nd
    annual Cooper River Bridge
    Run Sunday Morning,
    sweeping both top titles.
Over 30,000 runners participated in the race, and Tilahun finished the
10k run in a time of 28 minutes and 24 seconds, while Amana's time
was 32 minutes and 25 seconds.

Ethiopian wins Boston Marathon
    BOSTON — Ethiopia’s Deriba Merga overcame
    the disappointment of his Olympic fade to win the
    Boston Marathon on Monday, and Kenya’s Salina
    Kosgei won the closest women’s race in the
    history of the event. Americans took third in both
races for the best U.S. finish since 1985 the Toronto Sun reports.
Meanwhile, Abebu Gelan, 19 of Ethiopia collected $3000, after winning
the Women's division of the annual Sun Run 10k race in 34 minutes,
four seconds to become the third straight winner from the African
nation,
the Vancouver Sun reports.
Ahmed and Kebede sprint for victory
